Training to gain a Private Pilots License
Wednesday August 28th - I booked by first trial flight with the Flight Academy guys at Barton a week or so before and the day finally arrived to take the flight. A quick call to John Davidson my instructor confirmed the weather was OK and the flight would go ahead as planned, luckily I called from work so was busy for another hour before I really could start to think about the lesson.
Feeling nervous and excited at the same time we walked out to the training aircraft a Cessna 172 or 'G-TASH' if you like and headed out from runway 27L. My first flight lasted an hour and 10 minutes and involved doing exercise 4 in the JAA PPL (A) course 'Effects of Controls' and at the end of it I knew I'd been concentrating hard for an hour or so and my left wrist hurt a bit - must learn not to hold on so tight next time!
Afterwards we returned to the office to discuss what next and I decided to book another 3 lessons over the next few weeks, purchase the first 2 books 'Flying Training' and 'Aviation Law and Meteorology' and am now considering booking my medical as I want to make sure everything is OK and finally made my first entry in my log book.... Well Chuffed.
Thursday August 29th - After an evening of reading I decided to book my JAA PLL Class 2 Medical for next Thursday as I'd rather know now if any health issues need looking in to.

I decided to keep a Blog during my my training as it’s pretty intense and no doubt in time I’d have forgotten plenty of interesting stuff.
I hope you enjoy reading it as well.
